Hey guys,

Thanks so much for emailing all those requests in, September the 2nd is now completely full, so the only tickets left will be those held back for the door. If you haven't received a confirmation email yet, check your junkmail, and if nothing's in there, maybe consider getting to doors early on the 2nd or emailing in for the 1st or 3rd.

Again, thanks so much for the awesome response and if you want to go on the 1st or 3rd (or both), best email in about those quick.

Love,

The Pipettes

Hey everyone,

Due to circumstances COMPLETELY out of our control the KOKO gig has been cancelled. Unfortunately the promoter is unable to return the booking fee, we are so sorry about that, especially as practically every ticket for the event had gone.

SO

We're going to do a FREE three day residency at the Fly (36-38 New Oxford Street) for all you people that were planning to travel miles and miles to come and see us, and of course for those of you who live very close too. :-) So come on down, the dates are September 1st to 3rd, we'll have some great support acts and we'll be changing the set around every evening as we now have a billion songs that we want to play (well, not quite that many but you get the picture). The shows will now be Age 16+. To ensure entry email: pipettescontest@nettwerk.com with 'The Fly' and the date you want to attend as the header (put +1 in too, if you want to bring a friend). We'll email a confirmation back to let you know you've got in, though we'll also be holding some tickets back for the door so if you don't get a confirmation email, still head over. We appreciate that even a three day residency at the Fly is not the same as a gig at Koko, so we're really sorry to all those who will miss out, though the Fly gigs will be very intimate and fun affairs, so we hope you can make it over.

Also, me and the girls recorded The Shoe That Fits yesterday with a great lady, Nicole Jenkinson and we're putting all the files up on myspace.com/thepipettesremix for anyone who'd like to try and remix the song. We'll include the best on a cd that we'll make for our tour in October along side a few others that we're getting our mates to do. Good luck everyone!

Oh, the tour in October (and one show in September). It's very exciting, around the UK and coming to a town near you, here are the dates (more to come soon):

Thursday 11/09/08 Kingston New Slang
Thursday 23/10/08 Leeds Cockpit
Friday 24/10/08 Derby The Royal
Saturday 25/10/08 Bristol The Cooler
Sunday 26/10/08 Oxford Academy

Tuesday 28/10/08 Winchester The Tower
Wednesday 29/10/08 Cambridge The Soul tree
Thursday 30/10/08 Leicester The Charlotte
Friday 31/10/08 Darlington Inside Out

Free London show!

Hey guys

Just a short one to say we're looking forwad to seeing all of those attending Solfest at the weekend, it's now sold out which is great, and you can expect us to hit the stage sometime between half eight and half nine (we're not 100% sure of stage times yet, but it will be around about the nine O'clock time we think).

Also just to remind people that on September Second we're playing at Koko, on Chalk Farm Road, for free. You can get up top four tickets for just a transaction fee of £2.50. We'll be mixing up old and new songs and you can get the tickets here.

Finally we just want to say congratulations to Anna Pipette, who has been part of the writing team for the new Sugababes single, 'Girls.' This is amazing news, we're willing it to number one once it's released in October so keep your ear out for it on the radio, and obviously we're hoping to get a number one ourselves in the not too distant future now that Anna is part of the Pipettes writing team!!!!

Lots of love to all, hope to see you soon.

SO!

First things first, thank you to everyone that was at the gig we played for POPSTARZ on Saturday night, it was AMAZING, one of the best so far, it was boiling hot but I don't think I've ever seen as many people dance at one of our gigs. We're playing again this Sunday morning (!) on the seafront in Brighton, hope to see some of you there, I know it's early but NERD are playing later on so I think that more than makes up for the early start. ;-)

The KOKO gig that was on the 11th has been moved to the 2nd of September, you can get tickets, from August 11 here and tickets for SOLFEST, which we're playing on the 23rd, here Hope to see you there and make sure you come over and say hi if you see us!

It's been really amazing to play shows again, we're all desperate to get back on the road, I think we'd forgotten how much we love touring. I miss the shows, the venues, the record shops, the food and drink and falling asleep drunk in a bed that resembles a coffin. I really cannot wait to do it again. We're hoping to put something together before the year's out, it'd be great to do some small shows around the UK, we really are starting again and it's bloody brilliant! Everyone seems to really like the new stuff, we've enjoyed playing some of the old stuff too and it's been good to get some exercise! Well, I guess we'll just have to wait and see and we'll keep you posted...

24 July 2008

Hi guys

We've some gigs coming up in the next month or so, so just thought we'd fill you in so if you want to you can come say hi to us and check out some new material (and older songs too, of course - the same but different).

Brighton Concorde 2 - August 2nd - Part of gay pride, should be great fun and we're really happy to play as part of such an important celebration.

Brighton seafront - August 10 - "Vodafone TBA in Brighton", on bill with McFly, the Streets and N.E.R.D. It's a free gig for Vodafone customers but we have a bunch of free tickets to give away too (whatever mobile network you're on). We have 20 sets of 3 tickets to give away to the first 20 people to email pipettescontest@nettwerk.com with Vodafone comp as the subject. Vodafone need the following information to issue the tickets so make sure you include it all:

*Name
*Mobile Number
*Mobile make & handset model

Winners will get their tickets issued to their mobiles and will need to have WAP enabled on their phones to receive the tickets. Get there for around 10AM (it's an early one for us!) and keep in mind that Golden wristbands to enter the golden circle right at the front will be given on a first come first served basis.

Koko - August 12 - Free concert as part of the launch of The Compass, a new internet music channel . Obviously it's great to open up increasing avenues for broadcasting bands and music as music only seems to be worthy of being broadcast at stoopid o'clock at night on domestic television these days (yes, we know most of us have spangly HD TV sets these days, Monster Bobby doesn't even have a television at his house!). Not exactly sure how to get free tickets, we'll let you know when we find out, though an internet search is bound to be more informative than us.

Solfest, Carlisle - August 23rd - who wouldn't want to go to a festival that had Supergrass, Roisin Murphy and Chas and Dave on the bill?

We would also like to point out that DJ Scotch Egg (http://www.djscotchegg.com) has a new album out .. records (home of Lightning Bolt and other noisey sorts) and it's amazing! Also go check out 'Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging' (http://www.angusthongsmovie.com/intl/uk) when it's released as it has a song of ours used in a proper 'cinematic moment', which brought a tear to all our eyes when we saw it and congrats to friends Restlesslist (http://www.myspace.com/restlesslist) for getting Huw Stephens' record of the week/month (not sure) when it came out last month as it is, indeed, a brilliant record.

Lots of love, hope to see you in the future.

9 June 2008

Hey ,
Having been cooped up for two weeks in Brighton recording our demos (and completely missing the sunshine) we're over the moon to be taking some of these songs on the road this week before our performance at Friday's MIMED festival in Spain. So tomorrow we're going to be on at 7:45pm at London's Indig02 supporting one of our favourite power ballad bands REO Speedwagon (karaoke just isn't the same without 'Keep On Loving You') and then we'll be heading to the Brighton seafront to play Dynamite Boogaloo at the Arc on Thursday night, this will be a late stage time (11:30) at a club night, so bring your dancing shoes for sure.

Lots of love,

Hello, it’s the other new pipette here, Anna. How are you?
Just thought I would stop by and introduce myself and also tell you a little bit about the last few exciting weeks……
We’ve just finished recording our new demos wooooooooo in the lovely sunny Brighton. Fuelled by curry, cornflake cakes (marks and spencers are the best!) and caffeine we set to work. Singing and playing our little hearts out, 9 days and 24 songs later we have recorded our demos phew!!!!
I think all us pipettes are over the moon with the finished songs and can’t wait for you all to hear them in the near future.
In the meantime here are a few things we found most amusing whilst recording that you might like to look at:

12 May 2008

Hello everyone!!

This is new Pipette Ani! I was just sitting down watching 'Homes under the hammer' eating some marmite (I love!) on toast when I suddenly thought I should maybe introduce myself as the only introduction you've had is that funny ol' pic floating around from the Bestival Bandstand gig with Mark Ronson. I could perhaps start there, it's as good a place as any ey? OK, so it is the Wednesday before the gig (which happened on the Saturday) and we get a phone call asking if we would like to do this gig. First of all we were all a bit apprehensive, the opposing factors being 1)eeeek!! scary, 2)it's in three days, 3)we're yet to debut, 4)Help!, 5)not one finished dress!! However we just thought 'WHY THE DEVIL NOT?!?!?!' We figured the main focus wouldn't be on us so in a way it would take some of the pressure off the first gig. You all have to bare in mind that us newbies have been fans of 'The Pipettes' like everyone reading this, so the thought of actually performing one of the old classics (aye it was 'Because it's not love) was pretty daunting.

So it's now the day of the gig which incidentally was an amazingly hot day. The sound check at 1pm went delightfully smooth so we were pretty darn excited though discovering about the 1am curtain call was pretty pants. The whole place was incredibly decorated in Alice in Wonderland related bits, it was like something out of an upper east side New York party scene (I can't help it, I love 'Gossip Girl'... I'm on episode 4!). The queen of hearts was walking around, a couple of cards in tow, playing croquet, there was a group of ladies dressed up as pensioners, one of which was chasing around after her 'out of control' hoover and another having trouble keeping her stockings up... it was quite the tea party! OK, so we've come to the bit about the "bunny ears" (I prefer to call them "HARE bands".... ) It was about five minutes before the show started and there was a ritual and very uplifting "hey guys, let's make this show great.." kinda thing happening when everyone noticed that we had no fancy dress (heavens, we thought our dresses would be enough!?) We were each handed these hare bands, and though slightly hesitant we put them on. The connotations of these silly old props (though regretfully) was not at the front of our minds.... it was our first gig and eeeeeeeeekkk!? I was just thinking... what is the dance?... I don't know the words...aaaaahh!. Yes, in hindsight we should have given it a second thought but really... a permanent fixture? come on guys! Anyhoo, to the important bit... the song and the singing... dare I say we did it pretty good. WINNER!

OK, so our day to day lives consist of rehearsing like absolute maniacs. We've all written a good few songs and they are sounding LUSH! We've got some dances too, in fact us girls are together making up some more today... however it is blazing outside... I've just been offered some ice cream by Anna and a glass of Pimm's has miraculously disappeared from by my side?! how very strange? ;p But really, the main objective of these rehearsals is to perfect the new songs as best we can in order to record some shiny new demos in the next few weeks. We are ridiculously excited about recording but also about getting some fresh gigs under our belt, VIVA ESPANIA! woop! We do hope you can stick around for the new album, I cannot express how delicious you will find it. There is something for everybody, some groovy tunes, some smoothies, jiving, slippin' and a slidin' songs and plenty more! Well this is me for now, I'm just off to do some dancing now but our other new lady will be back to update soon. Have a good week y'all!

Love Ani x

18 April 2008

The Pipettes have two new members, Ani and Anna. We are demoing up 20-25 new songs, with an eye to recording a second album in the Summer. We want to tell you all about them, but we’re very much head-down working on new material at the moment.

This means that RiotBecki and Rosay have left to pursue other musical pursuits (which will be brilliant when they emerge), we wish them all the best, we’re all still great friends and news on their pursuits will be closely supported by us.

People may be confused by such a drastic change in line-up but please rest assured - if we were to be an imitation of ourselves we would stop. Plus the Pipettes has more members come and go than major labels have A&R men, it's just another day in the office for us (plus we’ve got to go one better than the Sugababes).

We refer you to the manifesto on www.thepipettes.com for a more in depth explanation on the functioning of the band; this was the natural step to take. For a more in depth series of answers, we direct you to the prepared video here.

Thanks for all the continued support over this period and we’re incredibly excited to be working toward bringing you a new album that will be unlike anything we (or anyone else) have ever done. We will also have limited edition novelty tee-shirts on sale soon, keep an eye out for them and join the growing thousands who can now claim to be ‘ex-Pipettes.’

love
